Mukunda Movie Review

When it is a hero from the Mega Family, a lot of expectations will be formed among the audiences. It is the turn of a tall, handsome, and attractive man Varun Tej now, who managed to fascinate the young women out there in the first look itself. His debut film “Mukunda”, directed by the “Seetamma Vaakitlo SIrimalle Chettu” fame Srikanth Addala hit the silver screens today.  Pooja Hegde Played the female lead role in the film. Nallamalapu Bujji produced the film and Tagore Madhu presented it. Let us see how the film is!!!

 Story:

Varun Tej plays the role of Mukunda, the son of a common Onion sales person. His friend, Arjun, loves the local municipal chairman’s (Rao Ramesh) brother’s daughter. Mukunda protects Arjun from the tricks of the municipal chairman and the goons sent by him. As the time goes on, he falls in love with the daughter of the municipal chairman (Pooja Hegde). The municipal elections arrive at the same time, in which Rao Ramesh has been the one elected for 25 consecutive years. Mukunda decides that the egoistic attitude and deeds, a result of the political power and background the municipal chairman has, should be put to an end. Now as usual, the chairman tries to clear Mukunda off his way, who is creating hurdles to his personal and political life.

Who wins the battle ultimately??? Will Mukunda and co succeed against Rao Ramesh in the municipal elections??? Does Mukunda succeed in winning the girl he loves??? Foe the answers, you need to watch the movie.

Positive Points:

Varun Tej proved that he is a hero material. The way director has presented the hero on screen is good.  The dialogues are less in number for the hero, but Varun managed to show the emotions through the eyes. The story was written in a way to elevate the smile and looks of the hero. Importantly, the fights were designed in a way to cope up with the height of Varun Tej. The attitude f the hero is good in action sequences. Varun Tej has done justice to the title “Mega Prince” he was given, with the first film itself. Pooja Hegde entertains as “Gopikamma” beside Mukunda. She was shown as  a “Dream girl” for the youngsters in songs. Her performance in the film is better compared to her debut film “Oka Laila Kosam”. Rao Ramesh excelled in the character of a cunning municipal chairman. The episodes between Varun and Rao Ramesh are good. Prakash Raj plays a vital role in the film. Though he appears for a short time, his dialogues and performance are good.

Negative Points:

The audiences did not expect Srikanth Addala making this sort of a film. Story is the biggest minus for the film. Srikanth, who has been doing heart touching films so far, failed to do that in this film. He succeeded in presenting the hero well, but the story seems broken. The director made the first half interesting, but he failed to repeat the same magic in the second half. Focusing the hero’s friend character mostly, did not attract the audiences.

The audiences who went to the theater expecting all the songs to be as fresh as the title song were disappointed. Forget love and romance between the hero and heroine, there are not at least a few conversations. The love track of hero’s friend dominates the love track of the hero and heroine. The heroine character was limited to dancing in songs. The reason why hero loves his friend so much, What does the hero aim for?? These have not been show casted in a reasonable way. The film lacks good climax. The entire film runs in a serious mood. Though there is a scope for comedy, the director did not focus on entertaining the audiences. There are no family entertaining sequences in the film.

Verdict:

Varun Tej has carefully selected a film for his debut, without entering the “Image graph”. He has attracted with his decent performance. Mickey J Mayor mesmerizes with his music. As the narration is not up to the mark, the second half goes damn slow. The performance of Varun Tej and the music are plus points of the movie. Story, direction and the second half are the biggest minus points of the film. You can enjoy the film if you enter the theater without any expectations.
