Shankarabaranam Movie Review

Kona Venkat’s production debut “Shankarabharanam” hit theaters today. He also penned the script of the movie. This movie is a official remake of 210 Bollywood movie Phas Gaya Obama.

Story:

The story starts with a Bihar backdrop and movies to Abroad where our hero gets introduced as Gautham (Nikhil). He is a happy going young man, who loves to have fun instead of taking responsibilities. His father Suman and Sitara were Indians who settled down there long ago.

Suman gets a problem in business where he have to pay huge sum of money to bank. Unable to pay the money he tries to commit suicide . But his wife stops him and advice him to sell her property a Palace named Shankarabharanam, which was in Bihar.

So our hero starts his journey to India, did he get what he want, where does Nandita and anjali fits in the story, is to be known in theater.

Positive Points:

Kona Venkat’s script always shares a good repo with comedy. His comic dialogs and punch dialogs were very good in every movie. Likewise in this movie also they worked very well. Coming to our hero Nihkil, he scored three hits in a row & all of them were with unique scripts, so expectations were high from him. Well, he did a splendid job in the movie. His style and attitude in the movie is very nice.

Heroine Nandita also shared a good chemistry with hero and she did a good job in fun loving character. Other characters like Smapath Raj, Anjali, Saptagiri, Shakalaka Shankar did a nice work and elevated the comedy to a superb level.

Negative Points:

Being a remake story obviously there will be comparison with the original movie. But here our writer and producer Konavenkat changed a lot in the script, he added some family sentiment in the first half and some unnecessary comedy scenes in the second half. The original script is very crisp and with fast screenplay, but the changed story is a bit slow.

Except the comedy in both the halves all the other scenes were very slow and boring. The family sentiment in the movie didn’t work to its best. The movies length is also a bit minus as these kind of movies should be very fast but here we have 145mins of show making it a 25min extra dragging.

Technical Dept:

Here in Technical department everyone worked very hard and their work showed off on the screen.

Cinematographer Sai Sreeram captured everything very stylishly and beautifully. He showed both Bihar and Overseas perfectly. Visuals in the movie are also very nice they got nicely sink with the movie. Music of the movie is very week as they failed to connect with the scene.

Coming to the direction Uday Nandanavanam, he did very less as Konavenkat interfered in almost every department. Screenplay is weak. Direction is also not up to the mark.

Verdict:

Overall a nice time pass movie, people will enjoy the comedy. The concept is new but as there were many changes in the movie it became a regular one.
